Full Text
Mrs. Weiss, wife of our townsman Martin Weiss, left on the train Monday last for Germany. Mrs. Weiss goes on a pilgrimage of love and duty, to visit her father and mother from whom she has been separated for fifty-five years. What a meeting when the daughter whom they saw last in the freshness of young womanhood, shall stand an old woman in their presence. The joy of such a moment will amply recompense her for the trials and cares of the long voyage, and the old German home will be hallowed indeed, when the long-absent fondly-cherished daughter again kneels as a little child at the feet of the aged pilgrims who so soon themselves must take their final voyage on an ocean whose waves beat upon the shores of the next world.
