A bill will be introduced in the Irish Parliament to prevent further emigration from Ireland to foreign parts, particularly America, due to fears of depopulating the North of Ireland, from where over 900 families have emigrated in the past three years. Full Text

We hear from a correspondent in Ireland that a bill will positively be brought in, at the next meeting of the Irish Parliament, to prevent the further emigration of the inhabitants of that kingdom into foreign parts. The North of Ireland will be soon destitute of people, it is feared, if some means is not speedily made use of to hinder them from going away; within these three years more than nine hundred families have embarked from thence for America. It is a great pity these staunch and industrious protestants are not encouraged by government to stay in their own country, which is by far the most flourishing province in Ireland, and, in case of need, the only people the Crown can confide in, or receive any assistance from. Not long since they could raise thirty thousand effective men upon an emergency, with hearts, as well as hands, for the service of their country.
