Full Text

Reduction of Salaries. - It is canvassed in the School Board to reduce the salaries (already too small) of the teachers employed in the public schools. The reason for so doing is said to be the heavy expenditures made for buildings. Fine school houses are necessary, but bricks should not be traded off for brains. The reduction in salaries of the overworked teachers should be avoided. If any reduction is necessary let it commence at the top, among the officers of the Board. Reforms should start at the right point.
