CAPTAIN MORGAN.—The excitement in relation to this individual, in the State of New-York, seems to increase. The Statesman says the weight of evidence goes in confirmation of the strange report, published in last week's Spy, that he had been put to death at Fort Niagara. The Enquirer states that there is good authority for the following facts, and that names are given. That after Morgan's arrival at Fort Niagara, application was made first to the Indians to have him carried to the North-West Coast, and then to some British masons to have him taken down the St. Lawrence and put on board a vessel. Both having declined, a kind of trial was held, in which it was agreed to put him to death. Morgan plead for an hour's delay and for a bible. The report states that his throat was then cut and his body thrown into the river. Such is the present account of this mysterious affair. One of the persons implicated, it is said, has become insane. The Buffalo Patriot states that at a convention, held at Lewistown opposite Fort Niagara, sufficient evidence was collected to establish the fact of his being put to death in the Fort.
