The Mechanic's Meeting

On Monday last was well attended and addressed by Messrs. Ewing and Singleton, two of our candidates, in answer to the call made upon them by the committee at a former meeting. Both gentlemen expressed themselves favorable to the object of the meeting, and in behalf of their respective colleagues, who were absent, announced that they were also in favor of it. A Committee was also appointed to draft a memorial to the next Legislature, to be carried and presented by those elected as representatives.

On our first page will be found two articles from the Vicksburg Whig on this subject, which we commend to the attention, not only of the mechanics, but of every voter and reader.
