Trenton, N. J. Aug. 11.--On Monday night last, Peter Bertrand and John Scott, the former confined for robbing the mail, and the latter for horse-stealing, made their escape from the State-Prison, near this city. Mr. LaBaw, the Keeper, has offered a reward of 40 dollars for Bertrand, and 20 for Scott. Of the particulars of their escape, we are not sufficiently informed to speak: but we understand it to be ascertained that they intended a General Jail Delivery; but not being able to find the keys and fearful of alarming the Keepers, should they proceed to breaking the locks, they thought it most prudent silently to secure their own retreat--which they did by scaling the wall by means of cords or strings, which they must have been provided with beforehand.
