LONDON, December 1st.

From the highest to the lowest Performers in the political Farce which has so long engaged the Attention of the Publick (says a Correspondent) every Man calls himself a Patriot who opposes the Ministry, and tells us that Nothing but a Change in the great Departments of the State can possibly restore the national Tranquillity; yet if a Change was made to-morrow (adds our Correspondent) the Measure will by no Means terminate our Dissensions. Our Patriots are as averse to one another as they are to the People actually in Power, and will neither draw together nor suffer their Rival to be elevated over their Heads. In this Situation, our Correspondent thinks the most prudent Step we can take is to keep the Ministers we have got, especially as Peace begins again to dawn, and, with a little good Management, may be effectually re-established in this Country.

The same Correspondent says, that the two great Leaders of Opposition, Lord Chatham, and Lord Rockingham, are as adverse in their Politics as they are each averse to Lord North. Lord Chatham, for Instance, contends for short Parliaments, Lord Rockingham for long Ones; the former insists that we have no Right to tax the Americans, the latter has made an Act of Parliament declaratory of that Right, though he declined to exercise it. Thus these great Men differ from each other, in Points of the utmost Importance; and if we turn to Press Warrants, they both differ widely from the City of London, which loudly condemns these Warrants, and pronounces them the worst Species of Tyranny which can be known in our Constitution.

Correspondent describes political opposition as a farce where self-proclaimed patriots oppose the ministry but are divided among themselves. Leaders Lord Chatham and Lord Rockingham differ on short vs. long parliaments, rights to tax Americans, and press warrants, conflicting also with the City of London. Suggests keeping current ministers as peace dawns.
