Hon. Benton McMillen for Speaker. Why every democratic representative should be for him and especially Tennesseans. He has long worn the belt as prince of parliamentarians. He is a simon pure democrat. His long congressional record eminently fits him for the chair especially at this particular time. When the republicans are to be met and fought to defeat he is a Tennessean and has honored repeatedly Tennessee as well as the nation. As a man he is a conspicuous figure among men, he is intellectual, pungent, far sighted, honest, alert, firm, combative and a peer of the fittest in every respect indeed, there is only one valid reason why he should not be chosen, that now the west is coming to the south politically in superior, the south ought not to do any thing that would intimate her rightful and legitimate alliance. We Tennesseans want McMillen for Speaker and believe we will have him. The contest is on Tammany for Bunton. Why shouldn't he win? Remember it is due to Mr. McMillen that he be chosen.
