TRIBUTE TO JUDGE BINGHAM
Chittenden County Bar Adopts Resolutions,
Burlington, April 20.—In Chittenden county court yesterday afternoon a memorial service was held for the late Marcellus A. Bingham. late judge of the probate court. Suitable resolutions, introduced by C. S. Palmer, were adopted and tributes were made to the dead by Mr. Palmer, Judge Z. S. Stanton and Judge O. P. Ray.
The resolutions follow:
We, members of Chittenden county bar. desire to register our appreciation of the worth of Marcellus A. Bingham, former judge of probate for the district of Chittenden
His courtly manner and uniform kindness gained for him at once the respect and confidence of lawyers and laymen.
His painstaking care and judicial fairness made secure and lasting our respect for him as a man, and confidence in him as a judge.
As practicing attorney he was faithful to his clients. fair toward his brethren. and honored the profession.
His legal ability and good judgment. reinforced by an earnest purpose to do exact justice to all. fitted him to be. what he was. an upright judge.
We miss his genial fellowship. mourn the loss we sustain in his death, and will ever cherish his memory.
To the dear ones left to mourn the loss of a kind companion and devoted father, we extend our sincere sympathy, with an abiding faith that "He who tempereth the wind to the shorn lamb." will not leave them comfortless, In this hour of their great sorrow.
We move the court to direct that these resolutions be spread upon the court records as a further tribute to the memory of Judge Bingham; and we recommend that a copy of the same be furnished the press for publication, and a like copy attested by the clerk of this court. be sent to the widow and daughter of our deceased brother.
