"The Squadron of Men of War which I mention'd some Time ago that it is destin'd for America, as many Volunteers for that Part of the World are already on Board. It is not yet precisely known when this Squadron will sail; but if a Judgment can be formed from the Preparations, it will go from hence before the Winter ends. About 1200 Sailors are within a few Days arriv'd here, who have been register'd in the Book of our Department. The Work in this Port, and in our Arsenals, goes on very briskly. As soon as the Squadron abovementioned is completed, another will with all Expedition be fitted out, which is to consist of five Ships, from 50 to 70 Guns, and it is said, is only to go to Toulon; but if intended for any further Design, it will appear soon after they arrive at that Port. Several new Ships are upon the Stocks, the Building of which is greatly facilitated by the Wood whereof they are to be composed being prepared for that Purpose in Sweden from whence it comes."
