NATIONAL MAIL ORDER HOUSE DISTRIBUTORS FOR BACON CO.
Lists Local Concern's Medicines in Current Catalogue Issue—Product Well Known Here.
Medicines manufactured by the Bacon Formula Company of this city have been listed in the fall and winter catalogue, recently issued by Montgomery Ward & Company. Stanley F. Bacon, of 62 Farrows street, is president of the local concern.
Products, manufactured by the local concern, were shipped, previous to the listing, to the Mail Order House's warehouses in Albany, Baltimore, Kansas City, Denver and Chicago. They will be distributed from these points to all parts of the United States.
For the past ten years, Mr. Bacon has been distributing his products in conjunction with a sporting goods business, conducted until recently at 22 Union street. They have been introduced in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York state through his efforts. "Quick Aid" and "Cow Balm", two of the concern's best known products are established in this vicinity and have been endorsed by many local farmers and dairymen.
The articles appear in the current issue of the Montgomery Ward catalogue on page 680. "Quick Aid", in the catalogue is listed as "Baforco". It is a medicine for ailments common among dairy cattle. "Cow Balm" is used for cuts and bruises.
The listing of their product by the well known mail-order house is a step toward expansion. It is possible that the company's acceptance of the local concern's product may insure its advancement and ultimately the expansion of the Putnam plant. In this event, the new concern would be a source of additional employment. Hopes of expansion, however, depend largely upon the success of the initial cataloguing. Should orders warrant additional equipment and machinery will be installed at the plant, according to Mr. Bacon.
