Full Text

The Rev. Mr. Stone, in his address at the temperance meeting last week, estimated the number of whiskey distilleries in this county at one time not many years since, at 100—30 of which were in the good old town of Peacham. Yet at the present time there is perhaps no town in the county more thoroughly temperate than this. "We are all 'Reformed Drunkards' now" whispered a gentleman from P. as Mr. Stone spoke of the town as it was in other days. There is not known to be in operation now a single distillery in the whole county.—Caledonian.
