Up From GEORGIA
With My Banjo
By THOMAS JEFFERSON FLANNAGAN
The Earth Is The Lord's
The earth is the Lord's - although men claim
Her vast dominions from sea to sea;
They fight for change in map and name
Of regions and governments that be.
The earth keep calm, and brings her green
Of softness home to every spring;
Alike she brings to peasant and queen
In season's due the harvest ring;
And despite man's clamor and greed,
His restlessness that craves the fight,
His clash of race and creed on creed, -
The Earth forgives
.... .. When comes the night
Of death to end his lure and lust
Her warm breast opens to welcome his dust.
