Ah, ha! The whole outdoors was air conditioned Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and all us common folks got a chance to cool off for a change as good as those plutocrats with the air conditioning units have been able to do all along. And didn't it feel good?

This was hardly the beginning of fall, but it sure felt good for a change.

If all work and no play makes Jack dull as they say, couldn't they go further still and apply the same to Jill?

Jake (Breezy) Wynne is the new owner of a "famous" sign. Installed Saturday, the new sign will hardly be used by auto drivers license examiners, optometrists and other experts who check human vision. Because it could be seen by near sighted persons for a half mile without the aid of spectacles and there is no telling how far away it could be seen by the far sighted people who can tell the differences between a honey bee and a yellow jacket with the naked eye at 150 paces. Lighter lettering. THE FAMOUS, on a darker brown background is about how to describe the sign to those who haven't seen it. And those who haven't seen it yet must be the ones who have not been within a mile of the square since last Saturday.

Those of you who will not arrive at an age too advanced by next summer to enjoy a dip in a swimming pool should take notice that the city is supposed to have one ready for you by that time. Only this week was it possible to secure a permit to build the pool and even with the greatest rush in the world when it would be finished this year you would be looking for a place to warm instead of one for cooling off. At least we can look forward to something next year that we couldn't look forward to last year for this year.

Acknowledge receipt of a copy of the Bideford and North Devon Gazette which was so kindly sent by K. A. MacGowan. The wrapper in which the unusual newspaper was mailed indicated a town in Maine, but I know the paper was not printed in the United States since the price per copy is shown as threepence. Of course I am going to study up on how much that is in good old American coin so I can check on any bill Kenneth might send later. At any rate have looked high and low and cannot find from the paper itself where in the heck it is printed. Only clue is Bideford. But Bideford where or Bideford what, who in the heck would know. Even the advertisements which take up more space on the front page than reading matter reveal nothing in the way
