The Whigs of "Old Orange" have done well to elect their candidate for State's Attorney. Burnam Martin, by about two hundred majority over the opposition candidates. But how little exertion it would have cost to have secured only a few more Whig votes, and thereby have elected the full Whig ticket. The opposition plurality on the Senatorial ticket is barely enough to claim an election, Mr. Baldwin being elected by about twenty plurality, while Mr. Thurber leads Mr. Hutchinson only six votes; and thus amidst all the excitement which "Granite Cliffs," and the Chelsea Barbecue could arouse. Whigs of Old Orange! let it not again be said of us that for the want of only fifteen or twenty votes our opponents are left to triumph over our defeat. Let us, with one accord, say the word, and Orange County is henceforth and forever redeemed from the hands of the spoilers-Enquirer.
The Senatorial vote was as follows:
Baldwin, Dem. 2192
Thurber, Dem. 4177
Hutchinson, Whig, 2172
Foster, Whig, 2150
Moulton, F.S. 850
Peabody, F.S. 740
