We have just received the exact official vote of Brunswick county, as follows:-
WM. S. Ashe 222
W. F. Leak. 142
Ashe's majority 80
This is 18 more than the majority reported for Mr. Ashe, and swells his aggregate majority in the District to 2156. It is probable that other official corrections of the reputed vote may bring it up to 2200. Mr. Ashe beats Mr. Leak within a trifle of as much as he did Mr. Reid, four years ago, although the taking away of Onslow and the addition of Richmond makes over one thousand difference in the state of the District. Had there been no such change, Mr. Ashe would have received a majority of about 3300, the largest ever obtained at a Congressional election in this District. Besides, the difference between Messrs. Ashe and Reid was simply one of organization, whereas Mr. Leak took up an issue calculated to catch the opposite party.
Asa Ross elected Superior Court Clerk of Brunswick, by 120 majority; WM. M. D. Moore County Court Clerk, by 173 majority.
All the returns from all the Districts have not yet been received, but the above is the result which further accounts will only confirm.
