A large number of people attended the food exhibition at the Y. W. C. A cafeteria held yesterday afternoon under the auspices of the woman's committee of the territorial food commission. The exhibition was the summing up of the several lectures and demonstrations on food given by Mrs. James Russell within the last month and a half.
The exhibit included Hawaiian jellies, grape, pineapple, preserved figs, dried bananas and jams. The varieties of war bread shown were cornmeal, oatmeal, rice, taro, potato and pearl barley bread.
A large loaf of war bread was sent to P. A. Swift, manager of May & Co., by Quartermaster Sergeant Korpel of Fort Shafter with his compliments to the food exhibition.
Puddings shown were, bread and butter pudding, banana, Brown Betty, Queen's pudding, corn, cabinet and other cooked puddings.
Other foods exhibited were, taro salad, soup, vegetables, papaia baked, taro cakes, baked bananas, scalloped tomatoes, egg plant stuffed, fried mullet, baked ehu, breaded pakapaka and creamed ulua.
The committee of the territorial food commission is very appreciative of the courtesies of Hall & Sons and to the Hawaiian Electric Co. The committee is very grateful to Mrs. Russell for her untiring efforts.
The committee desires to thank the Y. W. C. A. for the use of the building.
