Sale of Electric Light System Frees Town of Debt

Mayesville, Dec. 31--The total indebtedness of the town of Mayesville was wiped out Thursday, when the light plant bonds, in the sum of $17,000, issued December, 1923, were officially paid and cancelled.

The light plant, which was paid for by this issue of bonds, was sold over a year ago to the Carolina Power & Light company of Raleigh, N. C., which assumed control November 10, for a substantial profit over the first cost.
