Capt. Canney, of the schr. Little Bill, (arrived this morning) states, that the British had taken military possession of Martinique, but had not interfered with the commercial or municipal laws and regulations of that Island. That the Bourbon flag was still kept up at Guadaloupe, tho' that Island had refused the proffer of British protection, and determined not to permit any British troops to land there --in consequence of this determination, the British had landed a number of troops at the Saints, preparatory to an attack on Guadaloupe, which they were resolved to take by force.
