Taft Says the Recent Depression Was Unlike Former Ones.

Martinsburg, W. Va., Oct. 20.--Taft spoke in a dozen towns in West Virginia today, and among other things declared the recent panic was unlike the former depressions, differing in that it was only felt in spots. He says the west was not affected and that the farmers were not hurt. He said what the country needs now is to have confidence restored and the election of Bryan would not bring this about. In fact, he declared, it would be impossible to restore confidence if Bryan was chosen.
