FISH KILL, Sept 18.

Yesterday we received the following by express from Peck's Kill:

"By a gentleman who arrived at General Putnam's head quarters last evening from Philadelphia we have the following intelligence that may be depended on:

Our loss sustained in the action of the 11th instant, on Brandywine Creek, doth not exceed 1000 killed and wounded. The enemy's loss, killed and wounded is reckoned to be 2000. We lost 7 field pieces in the action. Had we never moved from the field of action all Friday and Saturday, but was busied in taking care of the wounded, and burying his dead. General Washington, who had retired on this side the Schuylkill, after being reinforced, on the 13th recrossed for Chester, in order to make Gen. Howe another visit. Our army are in good spirits; and although they have met with a small repulse, Gen. Howe's whole force being opposed to little more than one half of Gen. Washington's strength, owing to the situation in which the engagement happened, yet it serves as a stimulus to put our people on their mettle, and to arouse them to tremendous exertions; their spirits rising at Howe's approaching, whose destruction hastens with his advancing -- as the southern army are determined not to suffer the northward to outvie them in military exploits & glory. We hear that night before last, Col. Burr had the address, with a party of men, to surprise the enemy's picket, near Hackensack, killed 16 dead on the spot, mortally wounded 7, and took the rest, except three without having a man killed or wounded, that we have heard of."
