Big West Gets Fifth Good Producer In New Gunderson Oil Pool
Big West Oil company completed still another good well in the new Gunderson pool in Kevin-Sunburst field this week on its Gunderson No. 5 location, NW NE1/4 NW1/4 19-35-2W, not nearly so large as its other wells but good for 20 barrels, according to George Engle, superintendent.
The well was acidized with 500 gallons of hydrochloric acid this week after having had a showing of oil amounting to 80 gallons in 24 hours, with no water. It took the acid quickly and the oil used in treating was recovered in the first 14 hours of pumping. Engle stated that the well may be improved by re-acidization but this will not be done.
Well a quarter mile east had its oil in a "break" below the top of the Madison lime the Gunderson No. 5 was drilled into this break which was dry. It was plugged back to the showing at 1638 to 1642. It showed no water. which is regarded as a favorable situation. and it was about four feet lower than the No 4. a quarter mile south. which latter well is regarded as the largest producer in the pool although as yet unacidized.
Two offset wells must be drilled to the No. 5: one on the government lease to the north and one on the Jackson lease to the northwest. Dr. B. A. S. Aronow is moving his rig to new location as soon as the ground is dry enough to permit Jack Agan. the contractor. to skid the machine
The Aronow well has run tubing and is installing a pump but has not yet acidized. It has 125 feet of fluid standing in the hole from a lime ''break" at 1643 to 1644.
