MEREDITH VILLAGE, N. H. Oct. 12, 1844.

Bro. Burr:-In haste, I take up my pen to say to the friends of Zion scattered abroad, that God is reviving his work in this section, and granting the refreshings of his grace, after the long drouth; triumphantly refuting the gainsaying of the enemies of the cross, and putting to silence the ignorance of those blind guides who assert that the God of revivals has left the churches, and teach for doctrines the commandments of men. Owing to circumstances since coming to this place, I have had but little opportunity of visiting and laboring among the people; but having just finished my harvesting, I repaired to the place of an evening appointment in New Hampton, where the exercises of the meeting were unusually solemn, and several confessed their heart wanderings, and resolved to seek the Lord anew. Before the meeting closed, it appeared to me that a cloud of mercy was hanging over the people, and at the close I made a second appointment. Emanuel himself was evidently with us; and a number more, with deep feeling, said they were sorry they had left the Savior, and entreated Christians' prayers. Another appointment was made the next evening; and, feeling it duty, I visited through the day from house to house. This was the day fixed upon by Mr. Miller's disciples for the winding up of the drama of this world's history. It was a calm and pleasant day, and I felt the evidence that God blessed me in inviting sinners to Christ, and praying from house to house. In the evening meeting, which was the last night, (Oct. 11,) the power of the Holy Ghost fell upon the people who had assembled. One youth began to weep soon after the text was announced, and continued through the meeting. At the close, the anxious were invited to arise for prayer, when immediately eight arose, all of whom were youth, excepting one; and while I congratulated them upon their happy choice, and bid them welcome to the Savior's Cross, & to the Saint's eternal rest, the excitement became great, and they wept aloud. Six humbly fell prostrate at mercy's altar, while their urgent case was presented in the name of the compassionate Jesus to the throne of grace, they mingled their cries to God for pardoning mercy. Most, or all, I believe, found rest in God that night. I underwent a night of extreme pain and restlessness from an affection of my lungs, which seems to have increased upon me, contrary to my expectations, in consequence of physical labor. But if I can see one more old fashioned general reformation, such as God has formerly wrought, I am willing to leave my earthly vesture upon the battle field, and ground my arms at my Emanuel's call ; but I feel that I must see victory once more turn on Zion's side, and Zion's banner wave triumphant. In the morning after the meeting, the good brethren loaded me with their benedictions and with good things from their houses for my family, and I returned home, where I now write. To-night I have another meeting, and expect the coming of the high and holy One, not now in flaming and fiery vengeance, to let loose the dreadful artillery of his wrath upon a guilty world in his dread panoply announced by loud diffusive sound of brazen trump of strong lunged cherub--No, sinner, far other sounds --I hear that whisper from yonder bleeding summit : Come up hither, for yet there is room ; but lest you trample on Divine indulgence, and slight the offers of redeeming grace, be instructed, O ye thoughtless ones ; kiss the Son, lest he be angry with you, and ye perish from the way; make your peace, ye rebel sinners, while yet pardon may be granted; or the insulted, injured Spirit may withdraw, and you be left to wail interminable ages.
