SEATTLE, Sept. 27.—Appeals have been sent by the Pacific Northwest Oriental Airline Committee to civic, business, labor and fraternal organizations in the state urging them to send demands to Senators and Representatives that Seattle-Tacoma be placed on the main air route to the Orient.
At the same time, Howard G. Costigan, executive secretary of Gov. Mon C. Wallgren's Advisory Committee, said his group had called upon all political groups in the State to issue formal notice of their support of the Seattle-Tacoma air gateway.
Costigan said similar action was expected from the Washington State Grange and Farmer Cooperative groups in Oregon and Idaho.
DELEGATION MEETING
SEATTLE, Sept. 27.—The Washington Congressional delegation will meet at Washington, D. C., Monday to take steps seeking to obtain a Pacific Northwest gateway for the North Pacific air route and direct Seattle-Tacoma-Honolulu air service, a telegram from Gerald D. Hile, former Acting State Attorney General, now at the national capital, said today.
Senator Magnuson called the meeting, a message to Executive Secretary Howard G. Costigan of the Governor's Advisory Commission said.
Senator Mitchell conferred with President Truman yesterday on the North Pacific route and earlier Senator Magnuson had a similar conference.
Arguments on the Honolulu air route were completed yesterday before the Civil Aeronautics Board, Hile messaged, and in his opinion Board members appeared sympathetic toward the Seattle-Tacoma terminus.
