ACTION IS TAKEN AGAINST ALLEGED SHORTAGE OF CERTAIN COUNTY OFFICERS.
The Glynn county commissioners held a very interesting meeting at 11 o'clock yesterday morning. A batch of routine matters was handled. Two items of interest which received attention was the appropriation of the sum of $150 for the clearing up of the public dock at the foot of Monk street. The only public landing on the waterfront has been neglected for a long time and this appropriation is intended to put it in good shape.
The bill of Alonzo Richardson & Co., certified accountants of Atlanta, amounting to $1,209.40 (and that's some bill, too) for auditing the accounts of the county, was passed for payment. Incidentally and thoroughly appropriate to mention, the commissioners also passed a resolution providing for the borrowing of $2,000 at 8 per cent.
It developed also at the meeting that the accounts of some of the county officials had been checked short by the Richardson people and the commissioners issued notices to these officials yesterday that they must make a showing by the next meeting. It is understood that this alleged shortage grows out of a difference in the construction of the law as relates to commissions allowed to county officers in question as construed by the Richardson auditors and the officials referred to.
The matter will probably be satisfactorily adjusted.
