DOUGLAS COUNTY REPUBLICAN PLATFORM.

The Union Republican party of Douglas county, in convention assembled, do make and declare these, our patriotic principles:

We endorse the administration of President Grant as wise, able and conducive in its prudence to the peace and prosperity of the country beyond that of any administration in the history of the nation.

We approve and are proud of the National Union Republican Party, and believe it now, as for the past twelve years, the only party in whose keeping the honor, credit and general welfare of the country can be safely entrusted.

We endorse the National Union and State Republican Platforms, believing them to be a sincere declaration of the only true political faith and one whose avowals will find fulfillment in the actions of the party and we regard the actions of the Cincinnati and Baltimore Conventions as a hypocritical pretense, and an attempt to filch the principles of the Republican party.

We believe the unequal rates of fare and charges on freight and passenger fare by the Union and Central Pacific Railroads to be unjust and oppressive to the people of Nevada:

And, whereas, the people's money built said railroads, we do hereby, in convention assembled, instruct the members in the Legislature from this county to use all honorable means in their power to secure the passage of a resolution by the next Legislature of the State of Nevada memorializing Congress to equalize and regulate the same:

That we are opposed to all subsidies to corporations or individuals believing that taxation is just only for educational and governmental purposes;

That we do hereby pledge ourselves to support the entire State and county nominations for all the respective offices.

Further, that we pledge ourselves to use all and every honorable means in our power up to the 5th day of November next to secure the election of the entire State, County and Precinct ticket.
