Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Paris, to his friend in this town, dated June 20th, 1795.
"Two days ago I saw as horrid a spectacle as ever was exhibited I believe in France, six members of the National Convention were tried and condemned to be guillotined, the morning they received their sentence, each one stabbed himself with a poignard, three died on the spot, and three survived their wounds and were carried in a cart, (shocking to behold, weltering in their blood) to the place of execution, there taken by the executioner on to the stage, hardly able to support themselves owing to the great loss of blood, and their heads immediately struck off."
