We now learn that a challenge was given by M'Duffie, and promptly accepted by Gen. Metcalf, who, like a true Kentuckian, chose to fight with rifles. This, M'Duffie thought, was carrying the joke rather too far, and a correspondence was opened between the seconds, and continued till it was found they could not agree what weapons to fight with, and Col. Hamilton, second to M'Duffie, declared that it would be "unavailing to continue the correspondence." Thus, although the parties are "full of fight," they will be unable to succeed in gratifying their inclination, and the late session of Congress will, probably, have passed off without the occurrence of a duel.
