Thomas F. Haynes, a native of Nebraska, but who now resides in St. Thomas was the only applicant, other than Martin Wittstein, for the $7500 a year position in the Department of Education which has been created for Mr. Wittstein.

There were four other applicants, but they could not meet the specially tailored minimum requirements dictated by Gov. Gordon, which included at least eight years of merchandising or industrial experience.

Messrs. Wittstein and Haynes will be placed on the eligible list for the post, and their names will be submitted to the Dept. of Education as soon as a requisition for the post is issued. Mr. Wittstein has a contract signed by Gov. Gordon guaranteeing him a post at $7500 with the Government of the Virgin Islands.
