Budge-Buffington Net Match Halted By Rain

DURHAM, April 12.- (AP) -Don Budge, generally recognized as the world's number one tennis player, appeared in an exhibition match against Don Buffington, top ranking member of the Duke tennis team, on the Duke courts here this afternoon.

The program was cut short by rain.

Budge and Buffington were slated to go two sets. In the first set Budge raced through to win easily at 6-0. In the second, due both to his own brilliant play and partially to Budge's generosity, Buffington broke the ice and won three games.

The professional champion held a 5-3 lead when the rain came.
