Full Text

The following circumstance, we are told, occasioned the Selectmen of this town, by the town-crier, on Wednesday morning last, to caution the inhabitants of whom they purchased veal. A cow belonging to Mr. Jonathan Ames, of Bridgewater, about three weeks since was bit by a mad dog, just after she had calved; and the symptoms of madness seized her with violence the last week, until which time the calf had sucked her. One Joshua Wales, a butcher, from Braintree, passing that way, offered to purchase the calf, notwithstanding the cow was then in the height of the distemper. The calf was bought at a small price, and brought to this town on Wednesday for sale. The above may be depended on as a fact.
