R. A. Handy is home again feeling much better.
J. O. Lynch is building a big addition to his barn.
Allen Post has been added to the big force at Theo. Smith's.
E. S. Bower is looking for lots upon which to build a residence.
Charles Hatfield has bought the Kearns house east of James Woods.
Dr. Bancroft the Norton dentist was on our streets one day this week.
W. D. Witwer was laid up two days this week with an attack of sickness.
Dr. Nelson is putting down a pressed brick pavement in front of his house.
Mrs. Truckey of Omaha is visiting her daughter, Mrs. O. B. Lane for the week.
Hon. N. B. McCormick and family are expected back this week from Washington.
Mrs. L. R. Wright is in Chicago for a month's visit and posting up on the latest styles.
Clarence White has come in from Iowa, and will do measure work for Abe Whittaker.
Ernest Bower ran up to Norton on train 5 Saturday night, returning on 6 Sunday morning.
O. A. Porter is down from Sumner looking up a lot of machinery with which to do farming.
Jim Cole and Frank Tacker went down on the Solomon this week and bagged a brace of wild geese.
Mrs. Theo. Smith is expecting a visit next week from her cousin, Miss Jessie O'Donell of Springfield.
John Cuthbertson of Fairbury takes Peck Lawless's place in the engine service of trains 9 and 10.
Operator Saulter fell from the transfer platform a night or so ago, but escaped with no broken bones.
L. P. Bayha is in Stockton for three weeks' visit with his parents. Operator Saulters is filling his place.
Miss Julia Close is at home for a two weeks' visit. A smallpox scare has closed the schools in which she taught.
Frank McPherson has bought the Alex McPherson house in the north part of town and is having it overhauled.
Louis Sommers has contracted with Chas. McGee for a 24-light gas plant and will have the same in operation as soon as possible.
Dr. Rawlings is arranging to build a good big house with many modern improvements on two lots south of Frank Stinson's.
C. E. Lowe, J. N. Banks and T. C. Coffman have been appointed to grade manuscript of applicants for common school diplomas.
James Moncrieff is back from Omaha and will close up his father's business affairs. He expects to return here some of these days.
John Woods has returned from Topeka where he has been doing duty during the recent legislature as assistant sergeant-at-arms of the house.
Mrs. Gebhart and the family are coming back to this city after school closes. It is stated that John and Harry Gebhart will go into business again.
J. S. Craig has gone to Jefferson, Ohio, for a short stay. He fondly imagines he will like the east, but he won't, so look for him back before many years.
L. A. Champlin and O. W. Bickford went down to Kansas City the first of the week with fat stuff and brought back with them two carloads each of stock cattle.
T. A. Puckett has purchased the Pollard house in the northeast part of town. Mr. Puckett is a new comer from Denver and has charge of section on the Rock Island.
George James down to New Mexico last week and bought a bunch of cattle, leaving them in the care of his brother, Sam. The latter has entirely recovered and has as good lungs as anybody.
C. E. Nelson, W. T. Cowan, M. W. Hardman, A. S. Harwood and L. J. Herzog are going to present Rev. G. L. Rarig with a 15 jewel Elgin gold watch as a testimonial of their regard for him.
