Berlin, (Capital of the King of Prussia's Dominions) February 25.
The last Advices from our Armies are far from being favourable: His Majesty has just received two severe Checks. A Prussian General, who had encamped near Torgau has been taken Prisoner of War by the Austrians. No Particulars are given of this Action, except that the whole Corps, amounting to 4 or 500 Men, shared the Fate of their Leader. On the other Hand, a Body of Russians having advanced into Pomerania, had suddenly turned short towards Schwedt, from whence they carried off the Margrave Prisoner, and some of his People. It is also said that they made a Prisoner on the Occasion of the Prince of Wirtemberg, who went there for the Recovery of his Health, and the loss of whom is greatly regretted. These Things are looked upon by many as a bad Omen for the ensuing Campaign; the opening of which is not very distant, almost all the Recruits having joined the Army, as well as the Military Stores sent from Our Arsenal.
