Robert Emerson Davie, Rich at the Age of 24, Gives Schoolmates a Rare Treat.
LAFAYETTE, Ind., Jan. 21.—Robert Emerson Davie, 24 years old, a wealthy stock broker of Boston, returned for a visit here, where he was once a poor boy, after an absence of 14 years. He became known as the boy broker and is the youngest member of the Boston Stock Exchange, and has large interurban and railroad holdings.
Young Davie's friends never heard of him after his departure until recently, when William Bistain, a former schoolmate, received a telegram telling him to arrange a dinner for 16 old friends. Davie arrived here accompanied by his valet. He took five rooms at the Hotel Lafayette and decorated them with hundreds of roses. Then automobiles were sent for the guests. Davie engaged the entire hotel cafe for the afternoon and evening. An elaborate dinner was served and each guest received a valuable favor. Davie then took his guests to Chicago for a theater and dinner party at night. He ordered railroad tickets and telegraphed for theater tickets. Upon returning all his guests were taken home in automobiles.
He sent the flowers used at the hotel to the hospitals.
