RURAL RETREAT GETS PET MILK STATION.
Southwestern Va., Inc., was informed by Dr. W. G. Delp of Rural Retreat that the Pet Milk Co., of St. Louis. had definitely decided to put a $50,000 Pet Milk refrigeration plant at Rural Retreat. Dr. Delp has been in an interview with President J. A. Latzer, who is now in the territory.
It was intimated that a complete quarter million dollar plant would be placed at Rural Retreat just as soon as road conditions were sufficiently improved to enable proper dairy development in the community.
Rural Retreat is already a large producer of the milk product, and the farmers are already schooled in dairying. Rapid development is therefore expected. The newly elected officers, President D. J. Cooley, and Secretary Ward, have a well planned program of development which they are furthering. Professor Hoge of the Rural Retreat High School. has been most active in securing this plant.
From recent interviews with officials of the Company, Southwestern Va., Inc., is in position to state that the development in the Mountain Empire will call for one or two additional stations. The Clinch Valley region will likely get the next plant.--Southwest Virginia Enterprise.
