Brighton Cattle Show: The annual cattle show, and exhibition of manufactures at Brighton, was honoured by a general attendance of the Agricultural and other interests. The pens were generally well filled with native and imported stock of the best breeds. The Petersham ox weighing 2597 pounds, which received the highest premium awarded to fat cattle at the Worcester exhibition, was deservedly commended for symmetry and fatness. He is said to be the finest ox, of his weight, that has ever been exhibited at Brighton. An ox weighing 3,350 was the next in point of size, and of inferior proportions.—The show of bulls was unusually excellent, among which Celebs, and his progeny, and the imported bull Admiral, at present two years and eight months old, presented by Sir Isaac Coffin, to the society, elicited a large share of commendation. A bull, 18 months old, of the Holderness stock, and a bull calf, seven months old, likewise gave promise of productive maturity. Among the exhibition of swine, we remarked two fine store pigs, seven months old and weighing 447 pounds. A Hindoo cow and calf, and four sheep, imported from the Texel, were among the novelties of the fair—nor need we add that the appearance of the celebrated Bellfounder, was viewed with much gratification by all disposed to promote the breed of fine horses.

On the whole, the show of fat cattle numerically considered, was perhaps inferior to that of former years, while the exhibition of cloths, particularly those of the Messrs. Shepherds was thought to exceed any previous one. Certain it is, that one piece of blue in particular, for fineness and color, would bring no discredit on any manufacturing community, and was especially creditable to our infant establishments. The customary address was dispensed with, we learn on the ground of its comparative unimportance with the attainment of practical information at the present time.—Bost. Gaz.
