The negotiations closed only a few days since—mention of which was made in the Prospector—for the sale to the Guggenheim interests, of the Christo mine, one of the most prominent mining properties in Pinal county, the Imperial, at which point the Sasco smelter is located in Pima county; and the famous Congress properties in Yavapai county all of which are owned by the Development Company: American Development Company: An asset of the Tombstone Consolidated Mining company. It being a principal among the large holdings of the company, and the Tombstone properties are regarded as among the most favorable of the many large holdings, the millions of tons of silicious minerals being sought by the smelting interests being of far more value than the gold silver and copper.
The deal just about to be closed by the Guggenheim interests means much for the several sections of Arizona it takes in Northern, Central Southwest and Eastern Arizona, the holdings of the company including the Tombstone district, where the greatest development, in an attempt to control the water, has necessitated the most outlay. While immediate work will be concentrated at Imperial, Christmas and Congress, the Tombstone district cannot be overlooked. As the silicious ores of this section, as stated above, are in such quantities, commingled as they are with gold, silver and copper, that the big smelting interests of the country must develop this section. This means that the big undertaking by the Development Company of America, the parent of the Tombstone Consolidated company will be resumed at no distant day, and Tombstone will again occupy her place as one of the leading gold, silver and copper producing sections of the Southwest Pacific.
B. F. Cheney, director of the A. T & S. F and one of the principal holders in the Development Company America, is in company with Frank M. Murphy, perfecting the late deal, and is said to be largely interested in the new concern He is well known in Tombstone, having made many visits here while investigating the workings of the Tombstone Consolidated company.
The people of Arizona have never lost confidence in Frank Murphy and his railroad and mining propositions. His every endeavor stands out as a monument to his foresight; his railroad enterprises speak for the progress of the state; his mining ventures demonstrate that Arizona makes no false claims. Mr Murphy knew well what confronted him when he came into Tombstone. He will yet make good in the pioneer camp, as he will make good in all of his other undertakings.
