They write from the Hague, that as Affairs in the Neighbourhood of the united Provinces are looked upon to be in an unstable uncertain Way, and very liable to Vicissitude and Alteration, the States-General have thought it necessary, let what will happen, to take proper Measures for the Security of their Country, having given Orders requisite for repairing and augmenting the Fortifications of their principal Barrier Places. They have likewise formed a Project for repairing the Works of many other Places, which will be put in Execution as soon as the Funds for that Purpose shall be sufficient for defraying the Expense thereof.
