Full Text

A description in our columns of the varied resources of Calcasieu parish, and especially of its agricultural resources, would be of immense benefit to our people, by inducing immigration from other parts of the State, and from adjoining States.

We receive many letters of inquiry about our parish, which we have no time to answer in detail, and which would be fully answered by the desired publication.

We earnestly hope that some one or more of our readers, in each section of our parish, will give us a written description of the section in which he lives.

For example, from special descriptions of the geography, soil, and productions of Hickory Flat, Lacasine, Mermentau, Vincent's Settlement, Big Woods, Sabine river, Sugar Town and Barnes' Creek, we could give a general description of the parish, which would be equally interesting and useful.

We want facts, not fancies.
