Says the Laramie Sentinel: "We can remember when the republicans of Wyoming used to have a great deal of fun quarrelling over the governors, especially when they got a new one. The democrats are now indulging in the same amusement and we can look on and laugh at them. A large share of the citizens of Cheyenne wanted M. E. Post appointed governor but Mr. Baxter had the longest pole and knocked off the persimmon. Now Post's friends are mad and are trying to make Governor Baxter's life and official honors, a burden to him. Go on with the music, gentlemen. It ain't our carnival."
