For the Morning Star

Letter from Elder H. S. Limbocker.

Dear Brethren:

As some time has gone by since you have heard from the Oakland Q. M. I will give you a short account of our prosperity, for a season past. There has been a lamentable declension in the cause of religion in all this country. The cares and difficulties attending the settlement of a new country, such as buying, building, and procuring the necessaries of life, had engrossed too much of the hearts of many of the lovers of truth; they had become remiss in duty, and darkness and coldness prevailed; but recently there seems to be a cloud moving over the country, and a few mercy drops have fallen on the Bloomfield church, where the March term of the Q. M. was holden. There has been a good revival, about 12 have been brought to rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

A protracted meeting commenced the 24th of April at Jacksonsburgh. A cloud of mercy had appeared to hang over that place all the winter; but for want of proper attention, the blessing was not poured out, though a few were converted. There was a good attendance at the commencement of the meeting. The Lord appeared in our midst, solemnity pervaded the minds of the people; and on the third day sinners began to melt under the word, and come forward for prayers. The meeting lasted six days, and at the close we numbered seventeen that gave evidence of a change of heart; and the most of them were happy in God, and labored profitably in the latter part of the meeting for the salvation of others. Ten were added to the church, and eight baptized in the course of the meeting. A number have been converted since the meeting, and the prospects are yet favorable. May the Lord carry on his work till Jacksonsburgh shall become like the house of Obed-edom. The Sabbath following I attended at Adrian; five were received into the church, two were baptized, and one converted. A protracted meeting is appointed there, the circumstances are favorable.

On the 9th of May, Br. Charles F. Goodrich was ordained to the work of the ministry; he is a promising young man.

The Lord is reviving his work in different places. Our prayer is, Ride on, O king of saints, till every tongue shall praise thee.

H. S. LIMBOCKER.
