In keeping with its theme "Education A Beacon Light in a Confused World" this national officer, Dr. Brown pointed out our national historic interest in education emphasized some of the best current aims of education, presented some present day evidences of educational inequalities, and suggested the individual's responsibility in making education a stronger beacon in our confused world.
The two assumptions that world is in a confused state and that it is his need to attempt a mission to that education is a beacon of strength, guidance, vision and direction the speaker pointed out some of the proven facts and current documents.
Citing the recognition our forefathers made in respect to Education. Dr. Brown quoted from George Washington's farewell address "promote then, as an object of primary importance, institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge." The first Massachusetts constitution stated wisdom and knowledge, as well as virtue, diffused generally among the body of the people and as this depends on spreading the opportunities and advantages of education in the various parts of the country, and among different orders of the people it shall be the duty, to cherish the interests of literature and the sciences. Observing present day concepts the speaker said, the president's commission lately believed that justice so the dual and the good of society quite that higher education at least through the 14th grade be made available to all American youth capable of profiting from it.
In discourse he cited Statistical Data Showing Educational Differences Through The States and Interpreted It To Mean That Where Little Is Done For Education, Slow Progress Has Been Made. If America is to play its role in a confused world we must eliminate the differences the speaker asserted.
