ARMSTRONG HEMENWAY FOUNDATION
The new year finds the Armstrong-Hemenway Foundation, 43 Rutland Square, Julian D. Steele, director, off to a good start with an extensive, all-inclusive youth program the newest phase of which is now being launched. It will be devoted to work among college students.
Sensing the lack of intercourse between the ever-increasing number of Colored students in institutions of higher learning here, the Foundation is giving its fullest support to the formation of a student center for the purpose of bridging this gap and creating a greater solidarity between students of various colleges. With the spacious facilities of the Foundation in a quiet environment, students will meet from time to time to become acquainted, discuss and attempt to solve problems common to students, and particularly those pressing ones peculiar to the race; such as Job-placement after college. The Job-placement and Vocational Guidance departments of the Foundation will co-operate to the fullest degree along this line. Some of the most outstanding authorities in various fields at New England universities will participate in this program.
The meetings will not lack the social aspect. Teas, socials and banquets will find a place on the program.
The first meeting takes place on Saturday evening, January 11, at the Foundation, at 8:00 p.m. All college students are cordially invited to attend and take part in this unique venture.
