The election for Speaker of the House of Representatives terminated yesterday, in the choice of Mr. P. P. Barbour, of Virginia.
Thomas Dougherty was re-appointed Clerk of the House, without any opposition; Thomas Dunn was in like manner re-appointed Sergeant-at-Arms; and Benjamin Burch, late Assistant Doorkeeper, was appointed Doorkeeper, in the place of Thos. Claxton, deceased.
The place of Assistant Doorkeeper has not yet been filled, and it is even proposed to dispense with an officer of that description.
