The Parade, Headed by the Marine
Band, Was Unique Affair.
The Waterbury agricultural fair and cattle show began to-day, and while the weather is not very auspicious, a good crowd was in attendance this afternoon. The parade this morning attracted lots of attention and it was probably the best cattle show that has been seen on the streets of the city. One feature of the parade was the beautiful barouche drawn by two cattle, and sitting in the conveyance were ex-Mayor T. D. Barlow and Judge George H. Cowell, two of the officers of the Agricultural society. The Marine drum corps furnished the music and stopped for a few minutes in front of the Democrat office, where a short serenade was tendered the paper. Large numbers of people watched the unique parade and to-day teams of all kinds were flying toward the Driving park to take a view of the surroundings. It is said to be the best arranged fair that has been held by the society. To-morrow will be another gala day, and there will be new features to attract and interest you.
