CANNERY WORKERS AT
SAN JOSE GO ON
STRIKE; WAGES CUT

SAN JOSE, Aug. 4, (AP) With 200 extra officers sworn in, and 80 firemen detailed for police duty, every cannery in this district was patrolled by armed guards, marking the development of the third day of disorders, growing out of the cannery workers strike over a wage cut.
Chief of Police telephoned to department of justice officials in San Francisco, asking an investigation by immigration officers with a view of deporting alien reds charged by the chief of police with being the agitators in the present trouble.
