PUBLIC LANDS.

By a report from the land office, in pursuance of a resolution of the house of representatives, it appears that the amount due to the United States for purchases of the public lands northwest of the river Ohio, is $7,293,489. The lands sold prior to the year 1812, have been paid for, or have reverted to the United States, because the period of original credit, and the extension of time for payment, (three years) have expired. The whole amount of sales during the intermediate period have been $14,447,675; and there have been received, by the United States, $8,615,055 dollars.
