Full Text

SLIM JIM, the 3-card monte sharp, and his band of thieves, arrived at Reno last night on an emigrant train from the East. The Central Pacific Railroad Company has done much to prevent these men robbing emigrants and other greenies from the East, in the way of posting notices in the cars warning passengers against betting, but more might be done. The company cannot deny them the privilege of riding on the cars so long as they pay their fare, but conductors should be instructed to notify passengers, one and all, whenever Slim Jim and his crowd appear upon a train, that they are thieves. This would starve them from the road and eventually send them to the State Prison, where they ought to have been long ago.—[Virginia Chronicle.
