Full Text

September 18.

The intelligence from Egypt is to the 21st of June, and of considerable importance, though not official. Alexandria and Cairo were still in possession of the French; and a corvette sent by Gantheaume had got into Alexandria with ammunition and some troops, which left the fleet within 25 leagues of that place. It can no longer be doubted that he landed the troops which he had on board his squadron. A Constantinople account states that the British and Turkish forces had joined, making a body of 42,000 men.
