PARIS, Dec. 9. The cabinet of Premier Camille Chautemps, in a surprising show of strength in the face of attacks from many sides, won an overwhelming confidence vote in the Chamber of Deputies today by a count of 403 to 63.
The main group of Socialists in the chamber who had opposed a pay-cut proposal refused to enter the hall after walking out last night, which weakened the opposition to the government's plan and parties of the right approved the pay-cut although disapproval of the whole measure was expressed.
A real test of strength is expected tomorrow when increased taxation proposals are to be considered.
